The project was awarded to a consortium, which formed a Special purpose vehicle (SPV) by the name of "Tatva Global Environment (Deonar) Limited" to execute this Integrated Waste Management facility in Deonar, Mumbai.
The Gorai dumping ground was awarded the India Excellence Award 2010 during the 9th Contru function held in Mumbai. The award was given by Her Excellency Honorable President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, to Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai S.S. Kshatriya (IAS) for All-India winner towards scientific closure of Gorai Dumping Ground.
A two minute Marathi documentary on the story of the successful closure of the Gorai dumpsite and promotion of climate friendly policies has received third prize in the CDM Changing Lives Photo and Video Contest 2010, from United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Cancun, Mexico. A certificate and formal recognition for the success will be received in the coming days after the conclusion of the UN Climate Change Conference.
